Center Point groups plan book sale, piano party, garden walk
Below are some events set for June in Center Point:
June 4—Friends of the Library Annual Used Book Sale: new Library community room, 8:30-2:00. Hardcover books 50 cents, paperbacks 25. Also Friends bake sale.
June 5—Center Point Historical Society Player Piano Party featuring “The Fifties and Sixties,” 2 to 4, Depot Museum.
Reality Check
Reality Check is a student lead advocacy group that strives to improve the quality of our schools and community through prevention strategies focused on substance abuse issues. Over the past few years they have been active in educational activities, acts of service and prevention efforts with the Above The Influence Coalition.
A great opportunity is taking place this summer that allows for members of Reality Check to participate in a national student training that focuses on leadership development and equipping students to implement changes in their communities.

Space is filling up for the Taste of Vinton scheduled for Saturday, May 14 from 3-7pm.
The event begins with registration in front of Cooling Dance Studio (corner of 4th Street & A Ave) where you will check-in, receive your passport and other information. You will then travel through the Vinton community sampling a variety of products while comparing notes and learning about each selection by our experts! Each sample item is available for purchase right in Vinton!

Choir, band and art on display at VSHS celebration, May 10
On Tuesday, May 10 in the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Cafeteria & Auditorium, we invite you to join the music and art departments for a celebration of Fine Arts!
The event begins when the high school doors open at 6:00pm. Take this opportunity to peruse the art displayed in the cafeteria!
At 6:30pm the choir will host a Thank You and recognition of all individuals and businesses who donated to our Robe Fundraiser.
Art guild plans open house in new studio at Old School

The Vinton-Shellsburg Education Association will honor the district's retirees and present award during its annual reception on Wednesday, May 11. The event takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. at the VS administration office.

Flourishing Families announces Free trainiing workshop
Flourishing Families of Benton and Iowa Counties is pleased to announce a free training open to anyone living or working in Benton or Iowa Counties.
Immersion 101 training, is an introduction to the four strategies of Community Partnerships: Shared Decision Making, Individualized Course of Action, Policy and Practice Change, and Neighborhood and Community Networking.
Vinton Garden Club's 33rd Annual Plant Sale set for Friday
It's that time of the year for the Vinton Garden Club annual plant sale scheduled for Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the open class building. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The members are busy potting up perennial plants for the public to purchase. President, Fran Stueck said, “I would buy plants from someone locally that has been growing them in their garden, because you know they are hardy in this area.
